Futureco Bioscience announces the collaboration agreement, within the framework of the INNOLIVAR project, with Mas Curró for the assessment of the efficacy of a new biopesticide product for the control of the olive fruit fly.
Mas Curró is an agricultural company with a family tradition located in Caldes de Montbui i Senmenat: they count on an extension of 12 hectares and more than 6000 olive trees of the Vera del Vallès and Arbequina varieties. Mas Curró produces, with the maximum respect for the environment, a high quality oil, both in terms of its organoleptic qualities and of its health benefits, thanks to its high level of polyphenols (more than 500 mg / Kg).
Futureco Bioscience will carry out two field trials at Más Curró (2020-21 campaign): both will have Control plots (untreated) and plots where the experimental bioinsecticide will be applied. The biopesticide formulation, which proved to be better in terms of efficiency and persistence in field and semi-field conditions in the previous campaign, will be applied to the soil approximately one week before the olive harvest (November), in order to reach the maximum number of pupae (of Bactrocera oleae) possible, thus reducing the level of inoculum that will remain in the soil throughout the winter, and reducing the pressure of the pest in spring.
