We start the environment week with good practices for Climate Action

Red Española del Pacto Mundial de Naciones Unidas

This week the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact celebrates the Environment Week, and dedicates it to actions for climate, subject to the Sustainable Development Goal 13. To that end, it has suggested different signatory partners contribute their good practices in that regard. Futureco Bioscience’s Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has been one of those selected as an example of good practices. We summarize the good practice here:

Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Futureco Bioscience, consistent with its environmental responsibility and its commitment to sustainability, has joined the “Registration Program of carbon footprint and CO2 compensation” of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

This program arises in response to the growing sensitivity of society and as an incentive to fight against climate change and the development of low carbon economies, and as a measure to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 13, Climate Action.

Under the circular motto of the seal of the program “Calculation, Compensation, Reduce”, Futureco Bioscience participates in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through an improvement plan. To implement this process, the current sources of carbon footprint are determined, and a plan is drawn up to reduce it, thereby contributing to the fight against climate change.

The actions undertaken aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3% between 2018 and 2019. These are:

– Replace fluorescent bulbs with LED technology.

– Install motion sensors in pass zones for automatic on and off.

– Install strips and points of disconnection of computer equipment.

– Review annually the air conditioning system and optimize its use.

– Distribute the efficient driving guide.

– Plan routes and visits.

– Promote teleconferences.

– Rationalize the use of gasoil boilers in the greenhouse.

All the company’s personnel have been informed and sensitized of this plan and actions, both by email and with a visible communiqué in transit areas, and this plan has been added to the Progress Report of the Global Compact of Nations United.
