PALVIP is the acronym in Spanish of Alternative Protection of Interregional Vegetable Production of the Pyrenees. It is a Catalonia-Roussillon cross-border research and experimentation project to develop biocontrol products adapted to Mediterranean crops.
The aims of PALVIP are:
To achieve these, there is a team of associate universities and technical structures to evaluate selected biopesticides according to their effectiveness through field trials.
Field trials are conducted against diseases and pests of great economic importance such as:
These trials include commercial references of pesticides and biopesticides based on microorganisms and selected botanical extracts.
On the other hand, impact on wine quality and on the environment is investigated through transcriptomic, metabolomic and environmental metabolic fingerprinting techniques. These techniques analyse molecular interactions between the components of complex mixtures of soils, leaves and fruits, determining the gene expression, synthesis of proteins and hormones of the metabolism or the stress response of plants. Information on the waste products, the formation of by-products and the effect on biodiversity is collected to determine ecological safety and ensure that these products are not eco-toxic.
The PALVIP project is 65% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg VA Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2014-2020), which aims to strengthen the economic and social integration of the border area between Spain, France and Andorra. This aid focuses on the development of cross-border economic, social and environmental activities through joint strategies in favour of sustainable territorial development.Дополнительная информация
