Futureco Bioscience announces the first edition of the Innovation for the Development of Sustainable Agriculture Award: Ecoinnovas. This award wants to honour the best PhD thesis for its innovative value in reducing the impact of agriculture on the environment, published in the last 3 years from ibero-american countries where the company is present: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Portugal, Peru and Spain.
The areas of research to be presented are broad. They cover agricultural production techniques, farm management, machinery, agricultural inputs such as agrochemicals and agrobiologicals, infrastructure, processing techniques and integrated management, among others. What the theses submitted must have in common is their innovative value with respect to building a more sustainable agriculture, of low impact to the environment or regenerative to it.
The criteria for evaluation by the jury also include aspects such as the contribution of research to environmental enhancement, from the perspectives of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG) proposed by the UN, such as production and responsible consumption (SDG 12), climate (SDG 13) and biodiversity (SDG 15). The contribution to the scientific community and applied research in the field of the thesis will also be considered; as well as the contribution to the farming community and the civil society.
The award consists of an accolade, a prize of 3,000 euros and a visit to the facilities of Futureco Bioscience in Barcelona, as well as participation in a round table at the awards ceremony with members of the jury to discuss trends in applied research on sustainable agriculture.
To participate and present applications, researchers can access the database and the nomination form via the link on the website of Futureco Bioscience: http://www.futurecobioscience.com/ or this link. The deadline will expire on August 5th, 2016. Although the forms of applications have to be presented in Spanish language, theses may be published in English or in any official language of the countries eligible to participate.
The award has the support of organizations such as the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC) or the Catalan Institute for Agrarian Studies (ICEA), among others that are joining to support.
