Tomato crops are often affected by fungal infections such as Phytophthora infestans and Erwinia spp, which often expand on plant leaves reducing their healthy surface and limiting basic needs for proper growth and Metabolism such as sunlight, water and exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide that occur in the processes of photosynthesis and respiration. The effects of these fungi infections ultimately affect fruit number and size, and commits the crop, the farmer who grows it, and the demand of the tomato market, a food present in many of the meals and tables worldwide.
To prevent and cure infections by these fungi in tomato and other crops, Futureco Bioscience recommends to use Bestcure®, a biopesticide and botanical extract that acts as an activator of the natural defenses of plants, whose efficacy for treatment in tomato has been recently published in the Ecoletter 14 of the company. In this publication field tests were conducted on tomato plantations in Costa Rica, where control of diseases caused by Phytophthora infestans and Erwinia spp, is a fundamental practice in the production of tomato for domestic consumption. The study concluded that botanicals as Bestcure® at the doses evaluated are an excellent alternative, more environmentally friendly and less waste than conventional use of agrochemicals.
