Futureco Bioscience’s chemical analysis laboratory obtains national and international accreditation

The accreditation demonstrates the technical competence to perform the laboratory’s analyses under ISO 17025, highlighting the company’s commitment to quality.

The highest of standards, together with continuous innovation, is one of the pillars of Futureco Bioscience as a leading company in R+D+i in the agrobiotechnology sector. The accreditation (under ISO 17025) from the Spanish national accreditation entity (ENAC) reaffirms the company’s values and provides assurance of the accuracy and precision of the laboratory’s biochemical analysis protocols, guaranteeing the quality of its products.

Following two years of hard work, the Chemical Analysis Laboratory part of Futureco Bioscience has successfully passed the audit conducted by ENAC. As a result, it has received the certificate with the ISO 17025 accreditation. This accreditation verifies that the laboratory, when carrying out the tests and calibrations which it performs on a daily basis, exceeds a series of technical requirements set out for international standards. It supports the technical competence of Futureco Bioscience and the reliability of the results obtained. Receiving this accreditation ensures the high value of the company and its products, giving them an additional seal of quality and honoring the trust of all its customers. In addition, Futureco Bioscience obtains with this accreditation the ability to autonomously provide certificates of analysis for its products and their export in international markets, without the need to resort to external entities that certify them. This is both nationally and internationally, according to the Multilateral Recognition Agreements (MLA) that ENAC has signed within the international organizations EA (European Cooperation for Accreditation) and ILAC (International Laboratories Accreditation Cooperation).

“Futureco Bioscience is an agri-biotech company dedicated to research and innovation of organic products for crop protection and nutrition”, comments Rafael Juncosa, President and CEO of Futureco Bioscience. “The accreditation of chemical analysis methods is not only an excellent tool to guarantee to the customer the composition of our products, but it also helps us to consolidate our process of continuous improvement, thereby reinforcing two of the key concepts of our brand philosophy: high quality and our in house approach.”

Within the scope of the accreditation are tests for the determination and quantification of nutrients and trace elements. In detail, the analysis of 16 free amino acids by liquid chromatography, physicochemical analyses of nitrogen and total carbon content, and the content (total and soluble) of 11 nutritional elements, such as iron, calcium and potassium, through methods based on atomic spectrometry techniques.

Dr. Belén López-García, technical manager: “From R&D management, at the end of 2018 I was given the responsibility of managing the Chemical Analysis laboratory with the aim of achieving ENAC accreditation. It was a great challenge because we had to build the entire documentation structure that guides and evaluates all our daily work under the guidelines of ISO 17025. We have achieved it with a great team effort; each component has proved to be fundamental, demonstrating great commitment and professionalism by all members of the team. It has been very hard work, but at the same time very rewarding. The accreditation gives you full confidence in the results that you provide in the reports.”

Finally, receiving this ENAC accreditation certificate is a great success for the entire Futureco Bioscience team, and ensures extra confidence in the products and the brand.
